Chubby Checker "Ernest Evans" & Dick Clark Signed '61 American Bandstand Contract

An original "Click" (Dick Clark Television Productions) contract dated August 10, 1961, for an appearance by legendary performer Chubby Checker, signed by Checker in his true name, "Ernest Evans" and by Clark, "RW Clark, pres" in blue ballpoint pen. Checker was the unrivaled king of the rock & roll dance craze, and reached Rock & Roll superstardom with his historic hit, "The Twist." Early on in his career Checker changed his name from Evans to Checker at the suggestion of no less than Dick Clark's wife. The choice of "Chubby Checker" was a sly reference to Fats Domino.
