New York Whirlwinds Circa 1920's Vintage Basketball Jersey (Nat Holman)

For the advanced basketball collector and historian is this surviving relic from the earliest era of Pro Basketball history. Deserving enshrinement in the Basketball Hall of Fame is this 1920’s game worn jersey of the New York Whirlwinds, a team that counted Hall of Famers Nat Holman, Barney Sedran and Max Friedman on its roster. The Whirlwinds were organized by famed sports promoter Tex Rickard who also built the third incarnation of Madison Square Garden and founded the New York Rangers hockey team. The team began play at Madison Square Garden and were an immediate rival to the Original New York Celtics; setting attendance records whenever the two teams played each other. Later some of the original Whirlwinds players would go on to play with the Celtics. The jersey was acquired from the private collection of one of the country’s largest collectors and historians of pre-NBA Pro Basketball. A rare opportunity to acquire such a piece of basketball history. Knit jersey exhibits a few holes throughout but still displays well. Comes with a Gotta Have It! Certificate of Authenticity.
