Original snapshot photographs of Jackie Robinson are extremely scarce with none being more endearing and poignant than this 3.5 X 6 original black and white photograph of Robinson shown teaching his son Jackie Jr. how to bat, taken on March 7, 1951 during spring training at Vero Beach, Florida. Robinson’s uniform number “42” is retired throughout major league baseball as he is internationally recognized for his feat of breaking the major league color barrier when he signed to play for the Dodgers in 1947. Towards the end of his life, Jackie Robinson became an avid anti-drug crusader as a result of the death of his son Jackie Jr. in an automobile crash in 1971 after having struggled with drug addiction and becoming a drug counselor himself. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
