This ensemble includes a pair of frames; one displaying strands of hair taken from the head of General George Washington (15 X 17) and the other frame displaying a matched set of strands of hair taken from the heads of Martha and George Washington (18 X 17). Each frame includes a caption that details the provenance and history of these historic strands of hair. The First Family’s hair (both Martha and George) was passed down by Martha Washington, following the death of George, to Mrs. Cassius Lee, whose husband was a cousin of Robert E. Lee, they remained in the possession of the Lee family until 1996. The individual lock of General George Washington’s hair is accompanied by a copy of the original certification by handwriting expert Charles Hamilton regarding his authentication of the documentation pertaining to the hair's origin and chain of possession. Framed. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
