The 2009 World Series Baseball Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on: 11/6/2009

This is an official Philadelphia Phillies Major League Baseball game used 2nd base used during the Opening Day game of their World Championship 2008 season played at Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia on March 31, 2008 against the Washington Nationals. The base bears the special 2008 Opening Day logo from Major League baseball on its face which is soiled from infield clay. The same logo together with the MLB slogan, "I Live For This," appears on two opposing sides of the base with the Phillies team insignia appearing on the remaining two sides. The base is authenticated with a holographic sticker applied on the back by Major League Baseball. This is a rare game used artifact from this historic season in which the Phillies became World Champions defeating the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2008 World Series, delivering the first major sports Championship to the City of Philadelphia in twenty-five years since the 76er's 1983 NBA Basketball Championship and longer still since their last Championship in 1980.
