Without exaggeration this is the finest set of original Yankee Stadium seats that we have ever seen! This rare set of three seats remain fully unrestored but for the original wood professionally stripped down to its natural color and miraculously displays its original light green color on the cast iron supports and metal fittings. These seats were obviously removed prior to 1966, before the Yankees painted their stadium seats blue for the first time. These are also the only seats that we have ever seen with so much originality dating to their first placement in Yankee Stadium, which became the first triple-decked structure and first ballpark to be labeled as a "Stadium" upon its' 1923 opening. As most collectors are aware it is rare enough just to find a seat with its original blue painted over the green from 1966 as many Yankee seats were refurbished with a newer coat of blue after their removal during the 1973 complete renovation of Yankee Stadium. Yankee Stadium first opened in 1923 becoming the first triple-decked structure and first ballpark to be labeled as a "Stadium." Soon afterwards Yankee Stadium became known as the "House that Ruth built," and "The Home of Champions," with this seat witnessing World Series games and recognized triumphs of the Yankees dynasty, including the feats of Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. The Stadium also served as a venue for countless other historical sporting, entertainment and cultural events including professional football and boxing. As stated, this vintage triple seat has not been restored and is as close to its original state of appearance as one might ever find in their lifetime. These seats are truly meant for the ultimate Yankee collector and will most certainly appreciate with the historic passage of the Yankees into their new Stadium opening in 2009.
