Gemini VIII Crew Signed Original Photograph |
All four members of the Gemini VIII space crew - Dick Gordon, Charles Conrad, Neil Armstrong and Dave Scott have signed this 10 x 8 original color photograph. Armstrong and Scott have signed in black sharpie pen, Gordon in blue ink, and Conrad in fountain pen. With Armstrong the Command Pilot, Gemini VIII was launched on March 16, 1966. During the flight this historic crew experienced some of the most hair-raising few minutes in space-program history. One of the aims of the mission was to complete an in-orbit rendevous with the Agena. After successfully docking with the Agena, the Gemini VIII capsule began rolling continuously. Never having faced this in simulation, the crew undocked from the Agena, but the problem was a stuck thruster on the spacecraft, which now tumbled even faster, at the dizzying rate of one revolution per second. The fast-thinking crew was able to stop the motion by using the capsule's reentry control thrusters. Framed. Shipping for this item is free within the United States.
