SOLD This is a stunning original 19th engraved photographic print of President Abraham Lincoln in an attractive carved wood period frame (12.5 X 14.5). The attractive Lincoln portrait is the iconic image of Lincoln photographed by famed Civil War era photographer, Mathew B. Brady and depicted on the contemporary U.S. Five Dollar bill. The 7.5 X 9.5 image is titled “A. Lincoln” and is further credited by the engraver A. B. Walter and Philadelphia publisher John Dainty. Lincoln, best known for overthrowing slavery through the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteenth Amendment, was the 16th president and first of the Republican Party and was one of the most photographed presidents in history.
